BOLLYWOOD ACTORS WHO CAN GIVE RAPPERS A RUN FOR THEIR MONEY
By Ashish Kumar Singh
GO! WENT! GONE! is the time when Bollywood actors used to dedicate their lives only to sharpen their acting skills and showing-off their weird dance moves around the trees.
With an intention to achieve perfection and also to disclose their talents or hobbies, B-Town stars have now also taken over the studios and are sweating it out with the mike.
Aaaaaannndddddd, what's their favourite genre?
Well, it is the most happening thing right now in Bollywood- RAPPING. Where some of the actors (with actors we mean both actors and actresses) took the "mellow-dious" (melodious) route by crooning soft numbers, some drove on the "REBELLIOUS" highway with their rapping skills.
India is already flooded with commercial and underground rappers but it was our very own veteran "baldy" rapper Baba Sehgal ( kripa kare Baba, humein drishti de, pagg pradishit karein) who showed us HOW TO RAP with OH THAT! SWAG.
Continuing his legacy after a gap of two decades, rappers like Yo Yo Honey Singh, Badshah, Raftaar and Ikka among others helped the rap culture again to rise and shine in the "masaaledaar" world of Bollywood.
Switch to 2015-16-17, Rap has finally become one of the favourite child of Bollywood and every, mind it, every Hindi movie brings along a Rap song to theatres these days.
Now, as we discussed earlier, actors look for every possible excuse to show their hidden talent and few of them can actually rap .( Rapping Kar Gayi Chull)
"I am beginning to feel like a RAP GOD RAP GOD." This clearly seems to be the mantra of B-TOWN stars these days.
In this blog, HIP-HOP MOTOR BUS is going to discuss actors who can give rappers a run for their money and you never know they might be the next rap star.
We will be listing down (not ranking) not only the current generation actors but also from the previous one.
With a loud DRUM ROLL!!!!!!!!
NANA PATEKAR
You might be in a shock with his name being included in the list but if you remember this angry fellow has been part of rap song called 'LOVE RAP' in the 1994 blockbuster film 'Krantiveer'.
Nana goes super hard on the tune with his lyrics like- "Na ishq mai ho generation gap, hum milke karenge aaaaaaaaaaaaj LOVE RAP" (ROFL). And by the way, kindly don't underestimate Nana Saab as he has crooned in other films as well but his rap career lasted only for a song. AMEN!!
AMITABH BACHCHAN
Big B is not only the "Shehshah" of Bollywood, but he is probably the only actor from Gen Y, who is more familiar with rapping.
His baritone voice and masculine personality has always done justice to his rap skills. The legendary star has shown his raping skills in songs like 'Rang Barse', title track of 'Bunty aur Babli', 'Dharavi Rap' for 'Bhoothnath' and 'Genie Rap' from his flopped film 'Aladin'.
The most recent has been an ad for TATA Sky where he hilariously raps about people's TV viewing habits.
WAY TO GO MANNNN!!!!
ABHISHEK BACHCHAN
It seems like rapping runs in the blood of the Bachchan clan.
It is not only Amit Ji (Amitabh Bachchan) who raps, but also his actor son Abhishek Bachchan.
So what if, his acting career never took off, but Oh Boy! Junior B raps like a dream. The guy has the perfect swag that one requires to rap.
Everyone got to know Junior B's hidden talent when he rapped brilliantly in his 2005 film 'Bluffmaster' and then in 2016 film 'Housefull 3.' We, hope to see some more fire from AB's baby.
RANVEER SINGH
The "energiser bunny"of Bollywood is one guy who can actually leave his acting career and can always opt for rapping as a serious career choice.
The 'Bajirao Mastani' star needs an opportunity to show-off his rapping skills whenever possible, whether it is an ad campaign, or some music video or just chilling out with his squad.
The livewire always manages to spit some hard bars and he never disappoints anyone.
Ranveer Singh has rapped in Jack n Jones' ad campaign song called 'Don't Hold Back' where he also penned down the lyrics.
The actor keeps posting videos on his official Instagram account where he keeps spitting some fire lyrics. He is also good friends with few of Mumbai underground rappers.
The 31-year-old actor also featured in a video called 'Birju'. Underground rapper Naezy gave powerful vocals and Ranveer did a perfect lip-sync to the "tongue-twister" like song.
And if this was not enough, Ranveer will soon be seen in a film based on Mumbai underground rappers called 'Gully Boys', also starring Alia Bhatt. The film will be directed by Zoya Akhtar.
AAMIR KHAN
Mr. Perfectionist or Mr.Passionate Aamir Khan creates a "Dangal" in whatever project he takes and imagine when an actor like Aamir takes over the studio to spit some dope bars.
The 52-year-old actor first tryst with rapping came in his 1998 film called 'Ghulam' where he was seen rapping in song called 'Aati Kya Khandala' and people fell in love with his tapori avatar.
Guess, the '3 Idiots' star was missing the studio chills, so he again got hold of the mike after a gap of 18 years and rapped solid verses in his latest blockbuster film 'Dangal.'
The actor shot a special video for a song called 'Dhaakad' and displayed his uber cool swag. He proved yet again why no else can take the tag of Mr. Perfectionist from him.
SONAKSHI SINHA
After proving her acting prowess in the industry, the "Dabangg" girl of B-Town is considering to take music on a very serious note.
"<Acting se darr nae lagta saab, flops se darr lagta hai>"
Even if Sonakshi is damn good actor, her movies have not been really working on the box-office.
Well, that can be the reason of her thinking about music taking as a second career choice.
The 'Akira' actress first featured in Yo Yo Honey Singh's club banger 'Desi Kalakaar'. Even though she did not croon anything, people loved her in the video and that might have given her a rough idea about her new career choice.
Not taking a long break, Sonakshi soon release her own rap video titled 'Aaj Mood Ishqholic Hai' which got mixed reviews on the internet.
Sonakshi, on several occasions, has shown interest in music and in a big news, the actress will be seen sharing the stage with pop icon Justin Bieber when he lands in India in summer this year.
We, really hope your music career takes-off well unlike your acting career.
VARUN DHAWAN
The current generation of actors seems to have a thing for rapping and even actors like Varun Dhawan have tried their hands in the game.
The future superstar of Bollywood first tried his skills in a song called "Lucky Tu lucky Me" from his 2014 film 'Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania.'
In 2015, Varun got a perfect opportunity to rap again and he then displayed his rap skills in a funny song called "Happy B'day" for the dance-based film 'ABCD 2.'
ANUSHKA SHARMA
After Sonakshi Sinha, actress Anushka Sharma is the latest A-lister to join the bandwagon.
Rapping is now just another feather in Anushka's hat.
The actress, who has already given so many blockbusters, is not only a actress but also one of the young producers in Bollywood.
Anushka maybe wants to lay her hands on everything and that's why the actress tried rapping in her latest film called 'Phillauri' which is made her under her production house.
The actress goes naughty and crazy in song called 'Naughty Billo' along with her co-star Diljit Dosanjh.
Since the song is getting a good response, it would be interesting to see whether Anushka will rap in her forthcoming movies or not.
SPECIAL MENTION- GOVINDA
We had to give special mention to Govinda (no matter you judge us).
Funny man Govinda is not only a great actor but he is also a well-known singer.
Govinda has never rapped in his career, but he has been part of few path-breaking songs that actually helped bringing the rap culture in Bollywood.
Songs like 'Meri Marzi' and 'Stop That' featured Govinda dancing to these super hit rap numbers. THANK YOU SO MUCH SIR!!!

Well, these are only handful of Bollywood actors who have tried their luck at rapping. Some are good, some are bad and rest of them, we would like to give only one advice - PLEASE DO NOT TRY THIS AT HOME OR ANYWHERE ELSE.
